Account deletion for HowFar

This page explains how to delete your HowFar account (HowFar LLC) and what happens to your data. HowFar is available on the web at howfar.run and in the HowFar mobile app (HowFar - Route Viewer).

You can delete your account yourself while signed in. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

How to delete your account

On the website

Open https://howfar.run/account and sign in.
On your Account page, tap or click Delete account.
Read the warnings, check I understand, type DELETE, then confirm.

In the HowFar mobile app

Open the HowFar app and sign in.
Go to your Account screen.
Tap Delete account.
Read the warnings, check I understand, type DELETE, then confirm.

If you cannot sign in

Email [email protected] from the email address on your HowFar account and ask us to delete the account. Include that email address in the message so we can find the right account. We will process email deletion requests as soon as reasonably possible.

What is deleted

When your account is deleted, HowFar removes:

Your login / authentication account (you will no longer be able to sign in)
Profile information associated with the account (such as name and email on the account)
Account feature permissions stored for your user
Your private saved routes (permanently deleted)

What may be kept

Public routes you created may remain on HowFar so existing share links and maps can keep working, but they are disassociated from your profile (no longer linked to your deleted account).
Limited technical or security records (for example abuse-prevention or backup copies) may be retained for a short period as needed to operate and secure the service, then removed or anonymized in the ordinary course of operations.
Data held by third parties we use to run HowFar (such as authentication or mapping providers) is handled under their practices; we delete your HowFar account data as described above.

Deleting your HowFar account does not cancel App Store or Google Play billing. If you have an active paid subscription for the mobile app, you must cancel it in the Apple App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Otherwise billing may continue until you cancel with Apple or Google. If you later create a new HowFar account, you can use Restore Purchases in the app to reconnect any remaining paid access from the stores.
